Being Your Best Self

I heard a DJ on the radio the other day talking about how we are all always striving to be our best selves, doing our best work and becoming the best we can be. While it would be great to think that is the case, I think we all know that just isn't true. There are many of us who are striving to be more and better and working hard to make dreams come true but there are others who are just plain broken. And, I don't mean that in a harsh or judgmental way, but how many people do you know who are living pilot lives and by that I mean that the light's are on but there's not enough heat to cook anything. They are just trying to cope the best they can with life that they see as nothing more than filled with disappointment, struggle and pain.

Then there are others who are simply on cruise control. Any spark that once existed has long gone out. By numbing out, they hope to get through anothe day but there is little to no joy or happiness, no motivattion to do anything other than to fill time and space. Sadly, they are just filled with pain from the past with little to no options on how to heal and ultimately living in a world where the only remedy is driugs. (Notice the commercials now that say you need another drug to support your anti-depressants??)

I recently met a woman who offers classes on how to create success, money and even love in your life. She's got some of the basics down but what I realized is she is teaching people how to distract, ignore and avoid problems instead of how to deal with them. Emotions can be processed and hurtful, painful ones can be released and healed. It's just that few people know how to do that.

We live in a world that says to suppress your emotions. Like Karen, the manifesting instructor, we're given better means of avoidance rather than to just FEEL them. There's no magic formula required. It is uncomfortable to feel anger or hurt or pain or fear. I don't disagree with that but for the minutes it takes to push yourself into whatever emotion is coming up, is far less uncomfortable that going weeks, months even years trying to distract yourself from it or numb out with drugs or alcohol or other addictions.

We are taught to numb out. We are taught that life is filled with pain, hardship and struggle; Ergo, the phrase "life sucks and then you die." Whoever said that, has no experiences on the other side of negative emotions.

So my point in this post is that if your are struggling with any problems in your life, it may look like that is just the way life is, but truly it is NOT. You can live a life where - believe it or not - everyday is WONDERFILLED. Success and money and love and happiness just flow into to your life with ease because "life if beautiful - and then you die." So whatever feeling is holding you back - express it. Not by yelling at your spouse or kicking the dog, but by sitting down in a quiet space and perhaps screaming into a pillow until you can't do it anymore; or, writing out what pains you and letting yourself have a good cry or, imagining the worst thing that terrifies you and feeling the fear for as long as you can - and then coming back the next day and the next to do the same - until it is gone. Emotions are meant to be expressed and if not, they can literally back up and make you ill! If you take just 15-20 minutes a day to express whatever emotions are there, you will be amazed at - not just how good you feel - but how life suddenly starts reflecting entirely new experiences - experiences that are fun, supportive, loving and showing you that somebody up there realy DOES love you!

Hope this gets the wheels of your mind spinning with ideas and thoughts that empower you so you can become what the world really needs more than ever - a fully empowered, amazing human being (that deep down inside you know you really are!) Every person on this planet has the ability to be their best selves, but to get to the joy, love and happiness, you need to clear off the layers of disappointment and hurt. You CAN do it and when you do, you will be telling everyone around you what you did and how it has changed your life to an amazing one!

Have a Great day!
