Happy!
Yesterday, I received a wonderful gift from a friend and client. Not a tangible gift, but a gift of song and of gratitude. She sent me the link to Pharrel Williams recent song, "Happy." She sent it as a Thank you because, she says, this song represents how she is feeling these days. She writes, "This should be your theme song for the Opening to Love class." Ironically, I had the same song playing in my head the last few days. It's a catchy tune. It's a feel good type of song, but it also brought tears to my eyes that someone thought to send it to me as a Thank You. Silly, right? But I was touched that someone reached out to me to let me know my impact and that I have had such a profound effect on her life.
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof.
Clap along if you feel like happiness is a truth.
Clap along if you know what happinness is to you.
Clap along if you feel that's what you want to do.... cause I'm happy....
How delightful that a successful singer is singing about happiness. It's another sign of the new subtle energies that are shifting everywhere. Yes, as we scan the horizon of reality, we have to look over the rubble of tragedy and violence and not get caught up in the loud voices of fear, disdain and complaint even though such energies are loud, trying to get our attention. Like a bratty kid with a temper tantrum, it's difficult not to notice or pay attention, but under it all -happiness is there. Its underneath the din of fear and protest - like sunshine streaking through the rubble of a blown out building or a puppy in the middle of a war zone. It's precious. It's beautiful. It's vulnerable. We fear we might lose it, but it's there the next day and the next day too.
We've all experienced moments of ecstacy, passion and even joy, but happiness is a gentle, stirring inside; a soft, warm feeling that bubbles up and brings a smile to your face. It's not an over the top explosion of energy like ecstacy or joy. It's not a sudden realization of excitement or enthusisam. It's not a spurt of energy, but rather, it is a soft, warm, loving feeling that lingers. It's there in the morning when you wake. It's there throughout the day and there at night when you close your eyes. It's a soft unfolding that leaves a smile on your lips.
I thank my friend for her lovely and thoughtful gift. In her sharing and expression of gratitude, she may think the Happy song is just a passing thing that has little if any impact. But as I watched the video and listened to the song with tears in my eyes - I was moved to know I have such an impact and that it is reflecting back to me in such a beautiful and poignant way.
We are all discovering the secrets that we've hidden so well of who we truly are. It seems that hiding is no longer available. The light seeps out the cracks and shows itself even more brightly in the dark. Being happy isn't loud. It doesn't demand our attention, but rather softly steps in and catches us when we're not looking. It is soft, gentle. It is quiet. It is wonderful.
Thanks to all of you who share your successes with me as you continue to grow and change and allow others to touch you in positive ways. Much happiness and gratitude to you all ....
