LESSON SIX

Unleashing Emotions

The emotional self is sometimes the most challenging self, but it is also where so

much of your true inner power resides.  As a child, you were taught by your

parents or primary caregivers how to deal with emotions.  If your mother  or

father were afraid of their emotions, then they probably taught you the same.

In many families, expressing emotions was forbidden.  And, in other families, you

may have had to deal with your mother's melodrama or your father's drunken

behavior or got caught up in the middle of your parents' continuous fighting.  All

of these things affect not only what you feel, but how well you handle what you

feel.

This week we are going to dive into the depths of your emotional self with the goal of lifting you out of constricting emotions so you can experience what it is like to operate from a place of emotional balance and freedom.  To do this, we need to go back in time and discover what you learned as a child and as a teen. We need to explore what was happening when you were young that led you to form certain beliefs and conclusions about yourself - beliefs and conclusions that you still hold today that are no longer serving you.
